Suspect Quickly Caught After TD Bank Robbery In Newburgh

A 36-year-old man who attempted to rob a TD Bank was captured within a short time thanks to the quick actions of City of Newburgh police officers.

The incident took place around 12:40 p.m. Monday when a man entered the TD Bank at 800 Broadway and demanded money, said Det. Sgt. Joseph Rutigliano.

Bank personnel activated the “panic alarm” and the suspect fled westbound on Broadway, he said.

City of Newburgh Police Officers responded quickly to the area and with a description of the suspect; they were able to locate and detain Ivan D. Jackson of Newburgh, in the area of 828 Broadway, Rutigliano added.

Jackson was charged with one count of attempted robbery and is being held pending his arraignment.
